Even if you arrive tired and wishing you were somewhere else, you'll leave a meeting with Lane full of energy and feeling as though you've just witnessed the genesis of something big. [1] Even our own Tony Belding has expressed interest in an Aptera, if he wasn't already getting a Roadster. Me, I'm seriously considering a Venture One as my daily commuter - so much so that I have my name on the waiting list and am an administrator of the fan club.[2] Even if the side wndow opened, how would the driver ever reach the drive-thru window, the ATM, or the toll booth? Plus it sits so low, making the reach even worse.[3]
Everybody gets to stay in their "wheelhouse" (no pun intended), and maximize their efforts to making the best products for the most profit in each space. This is a my personal favorite reason for this type of partnership structure.[4] Everybody knows the name Piaggio, not unless you?ve been hiding under a rock for too long. The brand has been synonymous for creating the reverse trike model, which revolutionized motorcycle driving as we know it.[5] Even on surface streets that's pretty weak and likely to make this car an impediment for regular people trying to get to work. Maybe if you were only commuting through low-speed residential areas it would work.[6]
Even in a city, 25 mph is too slow. [7] Every small environmentally friendly new car always has moronic posts like this attached to it. Let Thomas drive his 10mpg Ford that apparently just drives around smashing smaller cars all day while getting 10mpg.[8] Even in regular city driving, I often exceed the EV's daily range. So having a little ICE-generator would be a great range extender.[9]
Every convenience store is a power station. Energy efficiency reduces electricity cost to only 1 cent per mile.[10] Even though there is a lot of work left to be done, Aptera has an advantage when it comes to development time. The three-wheel design — two in front, one in back — means the resulting vehicle will be classed as a motorcycle in many states, including California.[11] Even 3 wheeled pedal powered vehicles are not necessarily a kid's trike. There are 3 wheeled recumbents that can cost thousands and are way cool.[12]
Everyone was a little skeptical of Zap after Wired went and exposed a lot of shady doings over there. I won’t say that I’m any less skeptical now, but a forum member took the plunge and actually bought a Zap Xebra .[13]
ZAP Chairman Starr cited a study that showed more than a third of new car buyers in California would buy an electric vehicle if that vehicle were priced close to a gasoline vehicle and offered similar functionality. The 2000 Green Car Institute study titled "The Current and Future Market for Electric Vehicles" used the same research methodologies employed by the auto industry to identify markets for gas vehicles.[14] ZAP also offers an optional higher capacity battery pack for the PK that can offer a genuine 35 miles per charge. [15] Zap, who's been making small, slow electric vehicles for quite a while now, is setting its sights on a highway-capable EV for the US market. And unlike all other highway capable EVs currently being manufactured, Zap's Alias is actually priced for normal consumers at about $30,000.[16]
Zap and the Chinese maker of the vehicle Qingqi Group Motorcycle Co., LTD has come up with a proposed fix at this point. They are working with the NHTSA to confirm that their brake improvements will comply with testing standards.[17] ZAPWorld just keeps charging into the future. ZAP (a.k.a.[18] ZAP hereby accepts the sum of $1000.00 as a deposit for the reservation of an Alias. Upon written approval, all sums received will be applied to the ultimate purchase of an Alias when available.[19]
ZAP vehicles use no gasoline and require no oil changes. Using less fossil fuel can help relieve our current energy shortages while ensuring that future generations can rely on the same inexpensive, useful, petroleum products that we all take for granted.[20]
Motorcycles first used before 1 April 1987 are subject to C&U Regulation 16 (4) and subsequently the requirements of Schedule 3. [21] Motorcycles with sidecars are not usually considered tricycles. It can be harder to categorize three wheeled automobiles.[22]
Aptera says there’s enough room inside to haul around 15 bags of groceries, two sets of golf clubs or a surfboard. [23] Aptera is beautiful (in one guys opinion), uber-smart, and an ultra efficient vehicle with the highest gas mileage rating in this ? It?s a 2 adult + 1 (baby seat) configuration with enough room for 15 bags of groceries or 2 golf bags.[24] Aptera Motors will bring a three-wheeled vehicle on the marked at the end of 2009. They planned to deliver by October 2009 their first vehicles.[25]
Aptera has released an update on it's upcoming 300 Mpg car. This car really approaches transportation from a very different vantage than does the rest of the auto industry.[26] Aptera is an egg-shaped, two-seater three-wheeled electric car that also won the funkiest EV design award. The car is a merger of a motorcycle and a single occupant airplane.[27] Batteries are totally recycled - you get paid for returning them. Environment concerns - the electricity used is created in power plants that emit less pollution than all the lawn mowers used every day - there is no emission controls on those lawn care devices.[29] Batteries charge at home, overnight, on only pennies per charge. Top speed of over 60 Mph, and this electric vehicle is no slouch on acceleration.[30]

Powered by a modified four-cylinder Kawasaki motorcycle engine, the T-Rex boasts 187 horsepower. Maximum lateral acceleration is claimed to be 1.0 g and the run from zero to 60 mph takes only 4.1 seconds with a top speed of approximately 140 mph.[33] Power comes from two electric motors, one to drive each front wheel, and as it only weighs 700kg, the Alias is able to generate up to 320bhp and 557 lb/ft of torque. It will cost around $30,000 (£15,000) when it goes on sale in America next year, although it is unclear if it will come to the UK.[34]
Price to be determined. More information is available at nissandriven.com .[38] Price range is from under $7,000, to $14,900. Lines we sell are (1) the prestigeous " Zenn ," the most elegant of all NEVs, now with air conditioning, new and used, now a huge discount available ![39]
Perhaps, but Peichel and his pals will have gotten there first. At a recent club meeting at the Electric Vehicle Store on Excelsior Boulevard across from Trader Joe's, the true believers gathered for some Tater Tot hot dish, car talk and a few peeks under several motorless hoods.[43] Perhaps for such a trip, the engine may only be duty-cycled for a few seconds or minutes. This would produce a fantastic number, an incredible number that, though factually true, would have no useful context, i.e.[44] Perhaps the most convenient feature, however, is the comfortable height-adjustable seat, which includes an upright seatback for added support. The seat and the three-wheel design make this scooter a nice choice for riders with slight walking disabilities or people who prefer a more leisurely ride than a two-wheeled scooter can offer.[45]
